Ayurveda for Modern Yogis

A six-week journey into the wisdom science of yoga.
Ayurveda is known as the sister-science of yoga. That’s a little bit of a misnomer, because it assumes that Ayurveda is something separate from yoga. What Ayurveda is, is the yoga we do when we step off our mats. It is the science and art of living the life of a yogi. It consists of the diet and lifestyle practices that are essential to living a yogic life. The beauty of Ayurveda is that, although it is a 2,500 year old system, it is not static or dogmatic. The ancient yogis knew that the world would change, so they created a science that would evolve as we evolved.
Why would you want to live a yogic life? If you’re reading this page, my guess is you already know. While the yoga we do on our mats makes us feel wonderful, the time inevitably comes that we want more. We want to go deeper. Asana (what we do on our mats) is the gateway drug for the deeper yoga.
Your interest in Ayurveda may come from finding yourself at a plateau with your asana practice. You may feel great while on your mat, but go back to feeling of frustration or unhappiness after class. While we may relax and feel connected on our mats, we might go back to reactivity and addictive tendencies when we get home. We want the yoga feeling all the time (or at least way more often).
Your interest in Ayurveda might also come from an intellectual curiosity or a desire to deepen your yogic practice. Maybe you’ve done a workshop or yoga teacher training and felt an intuitive “yes! I need more of this!” That’s how I got into it.
Or maybe you or someone in your family is dealing with a health crisis, big or small. Auto-immune diseases are rampant. Lack of sleep is chronic. Obesity, even in children, has never been higher. Infertility and issues with menstruation and menopause are often not helped by modern medicine.
I created Ayurveda for Modern Yogis, for people like me. Householders, parents, professionals and yogis, who want to learn more about Ayurveda, to live a healthier, happier, more balanced life.
